Tips on Storing/Using Spices

  • Store spices in air-tight containers or reclosable bags
  • Store spices in a dark, dry space out of direct light
  • Preferably store spices in a kitchen cabinet or pantry
  • Never shake Spices, Herbs, or Seasoning over a steaming pot, as this will cause clumping and add humidity to the bottle to reduce the quality and shelf-life of the contents of the bottle.

Shelf-Life For Spices

  • Ground Spices: 1 - 2 years depending on the spice
  • Whole Spices: 2 - 3 years
  • Dried Herbs: 2 - 3 years
  • If lacking flavor and aroma, spices and herbs should be replaced.
